My Way is a long-term photographic project and book by Angela Varricchio, centred on El Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James. The work explores the pilgrimage as a contemporary space of spiritual search, memory, and self-reconnection, beyond religious belief.

Rooted in the historical origins of the Camino, the project recalls the medieval pilgrimage undertaken to seek expiation, forgiveness, or transformation. According to legend, a monk dreamed of Santiago (St. James), one of Christ’s apostles, inviting him to search for his body in a Campus Stellae. This vision led to the discovery of the apostle’s remains in Santiago de Compostela, from which the city takes its name.

Today, El Camino de Santiago is walked by Catholics, atheists, agnostics, and travellers driven by curiosity or inner necessity. My Way reflects on this shared yet deeply personal experience through a lyrical and graphic photographic language, focusing on slowness, repetition, landscape, and introspection.

The book documents an extended journey experienced on foot across different stages of the Camino, tracing photography as an instinctive act of observation and a tool for reconnecting with a fragmented sense of self. My Way unfolds as a visual meditation on time, movement, and the need for spiritual orientation in the contemporary world.
